HAPPY KID'S DAY

I don't know about the rest of the world, but today it's Kid's Day over here, so here's a video that goes with the day's spirit: Blink 182's drums played by the youngest LRRG ever, Shai (drummer5yrsold)... despite the screen name, he's older now... he's 6.

COMFORTABLY ACOUSTIC

I know I tend to favor those videos from songs I like best (except for the LRRG Submissions, of course), I mean this isn't a democracy, but I swear I stumbled across this one by accident.

Now, anyone who knows Pink Floyd a little knows how different Roger Waters' and David Glmour's voices are. In a couple of The Wall tunes, they both sing in the same song. Trying to sing that even in the shower, is hell. I say all this to point out the great job nonotnowjim does switching between the two singing parts in Comfortably Numb.

Nice guitar, too. Very... saint Patrick's.

LRRG SUBMISSION

I have to be honest with you, I've never heard "Oh My God" from The Police (from their Synchronicity album). Apparently, the original bass line is played on an upright bass. CJScrivano does a great job transferring it to his bass guitar.

A BRAVE MAN

Jonathan Davis, from Korn, is known for going from a very high-pitched tone of melodic singing, to a throat-ripping scream in .01 seconds flat, and anyone who even dares to try emulating him is a hero in my book. So this is not perfect, but amaurythewarrior's rendition of Korn's "Thoughtless" is very much worth a look, specially since he makes evident the several note changes Jonathan Davis does, making it difficult as hell to follow, or even sing along.

INFAMOUS EAR-CUTTING COVER

Second update for today:

I've been watching Bill's (Munkybarz) videos for so long, and yet this one managed to escape me... until now.

I don't think many people remember Steeler Wheel's "Stuck In The Middle With You" from before the infamous ear-cutting scene from Reservoir Dogs; and probably even less people remembers what a great bass line (and quite tough, from the looks of it) it has.

Well, I think Bill says it better in his video description: "This is a fun tune (if you don't lose an ear)".

DRUMS ARE FOR GIRLS

Since I didn't post anything, today will be a double. Here's the first of them:

Female drummer coop431 proves I'm right with her rendition of Fall Out Boy's "Chicago Is So Two Years Ago". Now here's the really impressive part of it all... she's only 17.

Children now-a-days sure can play. When I was 17 I was struggling with my first guitar chord.

POSER TUTORIAL

We all know it. Even him. There's no two ways about it. He's an awesome guitarist, sure. But the reason of why we watch the mighty's PDXguitarlegend's, A.K.A. Dave, videos, other than the hair, is because of his awesome 80's guitarist posing. Imagine just for a second what Dave's videos would be like without the posing, I'll wait...

Done? Pretty boring, huh?... well now you can look like Dave yourself! In this video he teaches us the basics of guitar posing and breaks it down for us, the unexperienced. Just be careful, some of these stunts have a high level of difficulty/danger involved. Neither one of us are responsible for any crotch torn ligaments by attempting "the kick".

DOUBLE LRRG SUBMISSION

The videos of Mike, who you might know as Smokeater68, are a little different from the rest of the guitar players. He plays rhythm guitar, instead of lead, and he's quite happy with it. Plus he's a fireman. So, whatever he chooses to do, it's fine with me. He wants to name his guitar "the vomit"?... fine with me!

Here's a double submission of his:

Video number one: rockin' "The Vomit" (his guitar) to Fastway's "Station".

Video number two: once again with "The Vomit" to Collective Soul's "Gel".

JEFF, FIX-MAN

Man, it's tough to find a voice-only voice cover (redundant?), let alone a good one, let alone a good one with good sound. That's why I'm happy to showcase, from the UK, jeffstunes who does a very nice rendition of Coldplay's "Fix You", for which he even does a small introduction.

A FULL MOON

Have you ever heard of "The Virtual Zeppelin"? No? Well, that's Bill's (Munkybarz) band. And who else is on that band? A drummer, who goes by the name mg4150. And what else does he play? Well how about some Keith Moon? Want proof? Here he is doing The Who's "We Won't Get Fooled Again". Sit back and get comfy, it's the full song.

CLASSIC BASS LINE

Always good to take a look at the classics, just like the bass line from a Beatles tune you might have hard of. It's called "Day Tripper" and it's played brilliantly by infusion26.

KALISLAVE

If you're a guy and have ever tried to sing anything sung originally by Chris Cornell, then you've realized how difficult it is. Two things are absolutely necessary in order to do that: to sing good, and to sing high. Well, miss kalinell from Argentina does exactly that. Out of her many videos, I specially like her rendition of Audioslave's "Like a Stone". It gives the song a whole new perspective with this young lady's tone of voice.

MACHINEGUNSMITH IS A PRODIGY

"Breathe" could have been the most successful single from Prodigy's "Fat of the land"; either that or "Firestarter". However, I never thought about looking for a cover song from this band. It was out of sheer luck that I found this "Breathe" cover from MachineGunSmith.

What makes him unique is that he doesn't limit himself to just play in front of a camera. He also uses lightning to create the effect of playing at a gig. Now that is a true Living-Room Rock God.

RABBIA CONTRA LA MACCHINA

In case you don't remember LRRG Nikola, he's the one who made THIS trippy cover. Now that you remember who he is, now you can meet the other members of his band, the KevlarCube, doing an awesome rendition of Rage Against the Machine's "Wake Up", not without introducing themselves first.

ARCHTOP BROWNIE AND MARIE LAVEAU

Since I've been extra-lazy with the posting this week, I decided to treat you, who check this web site (all three of you) with this little YouTube jewel:

It's Archtop Brownie, y'all! It is very... AAAAHHHH!!

MODERN ORACLE AND THE AUDIO PROPHECY

Some time ago, I featured Joy's Leopard Lounge here in the site, and after that we started exchanging messages, and she brought to my attention other shows which feature YouTube artists. That's how I became aware of Modern Oracle.

His channel is basically a tribute to original music, with basically three major features:

Modern Oracle's Original Material.

Original Music Database (OMDB): Made so musicians would post their original music as video responses. Currently that number is over three thousand video responses. That's a lot of time of original music to listen to.

Audio Prophecy: A show hosted by himself promoting YouTube's "original" musicians.

The Audio Prophecy has it's own very interesting website where you can listen to previous broadcasts of the radio show, listen to the radio show live (times are in Modern Oracle's YouTube channel under "event dates") or find original musicians which have been featured in his show.

Any way you see it, Modern Oracle offers hours and hours of time-wasting YouTube-video-watching, internet-radio-show listening.

You think your channel should be featured in the site? Submit it to LRRGods@gmail.com.
